Governance a big Question

After the Peshawar incident the moratorium on death penalty was lifted. The decision was made to hang the culprits. But liberal have somehow taken this whole decision into another realm of criticism. By arguing that the restructuring of governance, judicial enhancement, revamp laws, regulations and criminal justice system is need to be done. Conviction of few is not the solution. However the stay order for convicts has triggered army to take the trials in their hands---- into military courts. This is a real threat to the whole judicial system. As they are weakening, the judicial system, by a new intervention into the so called, sustaining democracy.

However the other side is in total favor of the army to take this stern action. By this they have shown their faith and belief into the hands of army. This side is of the point of view that national security is not only in hands of army. The democratic government which includes officials like respected PM, chief justice, chief ministers and all other policy makers are responsible to take measures against all the terrorist activities which has occurred in past. Everything from settlements to the administration work cannot be looked after army. It’s not their duty or else than don’t take democracy as a median to govern this country. The thought of liberals stands absolutely right but the other side puts a great argument that why they are bringing this opinion now. Indeed it’s not the first militant attack. The external pressure and the peace organizations should help the victims to rehabilitate let the strong action be pursued.

However if judiciary did not give justice at the right hour and ignored the mass emotions and opinion they are totally giving a gateway to army to make a wise move. However, blaming for the future consequences would not give them any edge. Right now they should work for National security, putting the house in the right order by restructuring administrative policies and administrative units’. The take on national sovereignty should be an utmost priority. Then refocusing on geo-strategic alignments and foreign policy is the need of an hour.

The Last Breath

Today our children got punished for going to school. Pakistan has faced a huge loss. A horrifying attack on Army Public School in Peshawar has shaken the whole world. The rising death toll of small children and large number of injured students in this militant attack has brought hue and cry for the victims’ families that cannot be overcome by mere condolences and monetary compensation. The national tragedy is a huge question mark on our national sovereignty and national integrity. These children were our asset for building strong democratic, peaceful Pakistan.

Social Destruction

The society has gone into deep depression. The barbaric attack has brought de motivation and emotional destruction. Now no place will be considered as safe place. All the actions taken against terrorism and national security have gone into vain. These militants have given their answer in lieu to Zarb-e-Azb and the recent Nobel Prize. Thus, no matter how much the Government authorities and legal forces try to bring in peace and prosperity they will never succeed. Until, these vicious, termites are not wiped out speedily from our country and the neighboring soil, as they are never ending threat to Pakistan. Pakistan forces unfortunately after this incident has been shown vulnerable once again. By mostly attacking again and again Government institutions these wicked mind masters (Taliban) gave clarion that they will not stop their heinous acts at any costs. So, consistent operations within our country will not be a complete solution. Having said that on the other hands drone will also not be a good solution to this menace. The only solution available is the international collaboration within our region, to eliminate these militants. Until our neighboring soil will provide them refuge, these blatant acts will remain ongoing. Continuously taking innocents lives, creating destruction and deterioration in our society. There is a dire need right now that all the peacemaking organizations from regional to international forums come together and help Pakistan, to eradicate these evils from our country and the region. So that such act may not be repeated again in future.

Pakistan is going through a very difficult phase of internal instability. The internal and foreign policies should be restructured. The political stability should take roots, the National Security Council should revamp its policies, governance and regulations should be utmost priority of the current government. For national sovereignty and autonomy, the implementation of these implications is the need of an hour.

My deepest condolences with the families who lost their loved ones today.

Game changer Maritime Silk Route

Revival OF MARITIME SILK ROUTE

Silk Route Philosophy was based on bringing trade and regional peace. The magnificent route not only gave road to enormous trade, facilitated connectivity in the region. Different cultural dimensions which include South Asia, Southeast Asia, West Asia and Africa are linked through this route. This connectivity not only improves geo-strategic position of China but even brings economic development throughout the region. This route has helped in economic facilitation and development of great civilizations of Asia and Rome and has many folds of great events associated with it.

Decline of Silk Route

The decline of Mangol Empire and discovery of sea-route from Europe to Asia in fifteenth century was a deathblow for the overland silk route. Then, after this the new silk road emerged on the sea which linked East and West. This Maritime route brought a new wave of dynamic trade, economic development and fostered peace. However, when Qing dynasty, banned the maritime trade in its era the Maritime silk route eventually fade away.

Need for Maritime Silk Road Revival

The concept of Maritime Silk Route revival and optimistic attitude by the new leadership of China is being denoted as a great strategy. Let me highlight the key benefits for China by reviving this concept below:

China will have once again Eurasia clear experienced route with innovative technology to trade and multicultural interactions.
  • China will have strategic access and greater economic expansion.
  • China can have access to energy corridors and other natural resources.
  • China will have unique strategic diplomatic relations throughout.
  • China can build its naval forces along its ports throughout the sea.
  • Indeed China will dominate the sea without having hardly any competition and hurdles.

The Maritime Silk Route will bring prosperity to Pakistan

Pakistan and China share good friendly relations. The revival of maritime silk route will bring immense benefit to our country. The Gawadar Port will be an eminent player and will bring lot of trade for our country. Further, China would even use Gawadar for its trading aspects which would be again beneficial for our country. Moreover, Pakistan will export its live stock, coal, seafood, rice, wheat, cement, shale oil and other commodities to China and other countries. Furthermore, employment rate would increase, new ideas and foreign investments would come in our country. On the other hand, this port can bring landlocked countries that are rich in energy a gateway to become part of this Maritime silk route. All these economic activities will bring immense win-win situation for the region and Pakistan. However, Pakistan can aggressively promote its economic policies and can be saved from the hegemony of external forces which manipulates country’s internal policies. Hence, the overland Silk route and Maritime Silk route will be a game changer for the whole region as it will certainly bring cultural and economic integration.

18th SAARC Summit 2014 outcome

In the critical situation of South Asian Region, the 18th SAARC summit, with the theme of “Deeper integration of peace and prosperity,” initially seemed to be like a ray of hope, for the future stability of the region. But the outcome of the summit was highly disappointing by and large. The question is what went wrong that, SAARC countries apart from energy pact could not get any of the other two, big pacts out of three, signed related to connectivity by motor vehicles and railway within the region.

The other side of the meeting

Why Pakistan became a barrier?
Pakistan as a strong pillar, of SAARC was blamed for becoming a blockage in the progress of the two major pacts. Should we believe on our Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s, statement due to incomplete internal processes he could not agree or there could be other hidden reasons as well! Let me draft some reasons in the following paragraphs.

Changing China Status
Here, saying no to the proposed pacts and making SAARC as complete failure. Bringing trade and other points vulnerable can make a fair way for China to enter as a permanent member. This will definitely bring a lot of benefit to Pakistan and will increase it power in the region. As China can convince Pakistan and can bring consensus on various issues due to their strong socio-economic relations. Further other countries, for the well-being of SAARC might welcome China with open arms as well. China is already working as a strong dominant observer state that’s liked by mostly, all the other countries apart, India.
If, China enters as a permanent member it will become a threat for India. As India fear of losing, it’s monotony from the organization and it became quite evident this time when India acted as a barrier towards China’s entry. Even knowing the devoted contribution of china, towards the organization and the region.

Pakistan’s Internal Instability
The other reason of resisting the pacts could be the internal instability and volatile situation of Pakistan. Where right now there is no consensus among the political parties. Making such move may bring Nawaz Government into critic and severe problems. If any further crisis arise. Thus, the threat of losing grip on power makes him reluctant to opt for such big decisions without majority consensus of other parties.

Terrorism and Security Threat
The terrorism threat within the region has created mistrust and jeopardy. Right now any pact of connectivity, can give easy roadway for any mischievous act. Thus, for such type of pacts and trades especially with India Pakistan has to first resolve the Kashmir, LOC and water issues.

The different interests of various countries, which Pakistan cannot ignore.
Pakistan cannot ignore its allies while making its geo –strategic decisions, which majorly involves West. Along with that it lies in the centre, of African and Asian countries and joins them through sea or land routes. Hence, while taking such type of sensitive decisions it has to see the pulse of the region.
